Installation of the YOCO SM-1080 stripping machine at Grafico
Versotrade has supplied and installed a YOCO SM-1080 stripping machine at Grafico, a company based in Opava. An interesting fact about the company is its partnership with the Czech band Kryštof.
We handled the relocation and installation as well as thorough operator training. The installation went smoothly with the help of a Chinese technician. We provided interpreters for two days of intensive training, followed by hands-on practice. As the saying goes, “There is no substitute for practice.” The operators had to master a completely new way of controlling the machine and automate all parameter settings.
During installation and training we provided a Czech translation of the control display buttons for operators who do not speak English, so as not to cause them unnecessary stress.
Loading die-cut sheets onto the stripping machine was made much easier by an electric pallet lifter with a height sensor, also supplied by us. Grafico's staff were very pleased with the automatic raising and lowering according to the number of sheets. They appreciated a level of comfort they had never experienced before and were able to work all day without back pain. Back pain is one of the main triggers of a “domino effect” in which an employee's health keeps deteriorating. So much for the electric pallet truck.
The machine can process a maximum sheet size of 1080 x 780 and a minimum of 650 x 450. The maximum stripping size is 360 x 360 and the minimum 30 x 30. These are the dimensions the machine can handle, but the preceding production process naturally has to be adapted for stripping, e.g. by eliminating breaking points and creating the necessary “pressure” areas on the sheet to provide support during stripping. The maximum sheet stack height with side delivery is 850 mm; with manual removal it is up to 130 mm.
It is a fully automated machine: the operator places a sheet on the work surface and presses a button. During stripping, the operator removes the stripped blanks from the belt onto a pallet. Once the machine finishes the cycle, the operator removes the paper waste and prepares the next sheet.
A major advantage of this automatic stripping machine is its patented features, which make work genuinely easier and significantly increase efficiency and productivity. Its patented technologies, such as the rotating stripping head and automatic side delivery, considerably shorten the work process compared with conventional stripping machines.
The rotating stripping head can be turned to any angle around its axis, i.e. 0° - 360°. The benefit is clear: since we all try to minimise paper waste, it is also possible to strip mirror-imaged die-cut layouts. In practice, the first row is stripped at 0°, then the head rotates by 180° for the next row, and so on.
Automatic side delivery is a great help that speeds up production and makes it easier for the operator to handle the stripped blanks. Manual removal can of course also be used if the blanks have a more complex shape or are too large for side delivery. With this patented feature, nothing slows the machine down – output depends only on how quickly the operator loads die-cut sheets and removes the stripped waste.
Best of all, in the end, is a satisfied customer with a reliable YOCO SM-1080 stripping machine.
