Another die-cutting and hot foil stamping machine installed by our company in the Czech Republic

The company Versotrade supplied and installed a die-cutting machine with hot foil stamping at Astroprint. The machine was offered mainly because of its compact dimensions, suited to smaller premises. The machine dimensions are 225 x 220 x 400 cm (W x H x L). The advantage of the machine is that it is not “unnecessarily” large and every centimetre is put to use.

The move went well, with just one hitch. The problem was the entrance door, as there were concerns the machine would not fit through it. The door was 250 cm wide and 230 cm high. However, we are experienced in moving machines in, and everything turned out perfectly. The moving service we hired managed to get the machine through this door without any modification to the door. The working space for setting up cassettes, cutting dies, stripping boards, make-ready etc. was also sufficient at a width of just 125 cm. So much for the machine's compactness.

The machine can hot foil stamp with up to 3 foils, each with independent unwinding. As for speed, it can hot foil stamp at up to 6,000 sheets/h and die-cut at up to 7,000 sheets/h. The maximum format is B2. Although testing was done with well-worn cutting dies, the customer was pleasantly surprised. With a used die, some inaccuracies are to be expected, yet the results exceeded expectations and there was no sign that the die had been used.

Installation and operator training are split into two days of installation and three days of operator training. We train with the assistance of a technician from Shanghai and, if needed, provide a Czech interpreter. Training takes place in a friendly atmosphere with an emphasis on understanding and operator independence. After three days of intensive training, the operators had mastered set-up for both die-cutting and hot foil stamping.

If new operators need to be trained, we can also provide follow-up training. Customer satisfaction matters to us and we demand precise results from our machines. That is why we fly to Shanghai in person for the machine acceptance, with our requirements and test samples. We run the test samples at the supplier's, and only if the machine is in perfect condition and passes strict tests can it be packed and shipped to the customer. Here at Astroprint they work with standard paper grades (200 - 450 g/m²), which our machine handles with ease.
